Don't Waste Your TimeDon't waste your time. Do not buy this couch. My boyfriend and I bought this couch and were incredibly excited about it. However, as soon as we began assembling it, we realized what a terrible mistake we had made. They send you all Vimle pieces except the "loveseat/middle seat", which is not the Vimle model, it's Ratorp . We figured this would be okay, hoping the Ratorp middle section was constructed identically to the Vimle, but nope - a majority of the screws and holes on the Ratorp did not align properly. We spent 3 hours watching YouTube videos, reading the instructions manuals, and ultimately waiting for >88 minutes for an Ikea representative (who never answered the phone so we gave up). Ultimately, the pieces simply do not fit together. This was 2 civil engineers trying to put together the couch, by the way ... not two idiots.
Then, (shame on us for being optimistic and ignoring the multiple reviews on this matter) none of the pillows match. We got literally 3 different pillows for our couch's back. Not. A. Single. Pillow. Matched. The. Others.
Therefore, after a >$100 UHaul rental to get us to/from the Ikea store, and after lugging all of the massive and inconvenient boxes into our apartment complex, we will have to pay $100 again for another UHaul rental to bring it back. We are returning the product, and finding a new store to buy our couch in. I highly recommend you avoid this product when purchasing a couch. Don't ignore the reviews. Don't be optimistic. It sucks.

Great couch!I bought this couch because I needed a sectional and it was the only one I could find that fit my small space and I was pleasantly surprised. I really stressed after I ordered it because I didn’t read the reviews until I was waiting for the delivery but I have had zero issues with the couch - in fact it’s the favorite of all the couches I’ve ever owned!
To address the cushion issue- the cushions do look too large for the covers and it took some wrangling to get them to fit but once you get them done and on the couch you can see why they are made the way they are. If they were any thinner, you would probably be able to feel the back frame of the couch.
For assembly - this is the easiest piece of Ikea furniture I’ve ever assembled. With just me doing it, it took about 2.5 hours. Attaching the chaise to the loveseat is a little tricky but I finally got it after I loosened the attaching bolt on the love seat.
Some other notes - the couch is very firm, which I love, but just make sure you do as well before you order it.
The instructions are a little confusing and separated into about 4 different booklets, but if it pay attention, you’ll figure it out just fine.

Nice sofa, but not what I expected.Let me say that when I was looking for a second sofa for my finished basement, I wish the Karlstad 2+3 sectional was still available as I would have bought another one (I have the grey one upstairs).
Anyway, I bought this Vimle with the chaise add-on. My first complaint is that I bought the dark blue color, it shows every little piece of lint, dust and even finger/footprints. I hate it. Second is that the back cushions for the loveseat portion seem very thin vs. the chaise cushion. The chaise cushion seems right. Also the actual bottom cushions for the loveseat do not seem big enough either as it seems they don't fit together tightly enough on the couch. Maybe it's just me, but that's what it feels like.
Last complaint is the chaise particle board floor broke as soon as I put the couch together, not to mention it was horrible to join the chaise to the loveseat.
Most of my furniture is either 50's modern or IKEA and this Vimle sofa has the most issues I've ever experienced on any of my furniture.

Great sofa! When ordering this sofa I was worried about what others had experienced with the cushions being inadequate but this wasn’t the case for us! *sigh of relief* Everything we ordered came on time and nothing was broken. The sofa looks great, we got the gunnared beige which is lighter than shown in the picture but that’s ok! It’s firm but I see that as a good thing over time. All in all I’m very satisfied with my purchase. Putting the loveseat and chaise isn’t the easiest of tasks and you’ll most likely need a second person.

Great couch overallI did read the first review about the back pillow cushions being too large for the covers so I talked to IKEA about it just in case this was the issue. They did look over-sized but I just crammed them into the covers and they were good. I think they were designed this way so they could hold some shape after use. It was tricky getting the loveseat to connect to the chaise but after a few tries I got it in. I compared other sectionals from other stores before buying and this was the best purchase overall.

Back cushions are terribleRead a prior review about the back cushions not matching and not fitting their covers, but bought this anyway, along with 2 chaises on either side. The chaise cushions are plush, fill the covers well. The cushions that come with the loveseat section are completely different, don't fit in the covers properly, and they look terrible. Held off on writing my review until I heard back from customer service -- their response was "Regretfully, we do not currently offer any alternative cushion options for the VIMLE sectional at this time." So now I have wonky looking cushions in the center of my sectional.

Love the look and design, but it's got issuesI bought the 3 seat with the chaise and an ottoman about a month ago. I've had plenty of experience assembling IKEA furniture and this went together pretty well until I had to join the chaise and loveseat. There weren't any instructions so I looked all over the site, downloaded and studied every pdf attached to the Vimle and couldn't find them. I emailed customer service and it took a few days for them to respond with a totally ridiculous email - no subject line and no message in the body - just 2 pdfs. I had to have my IT department clear it because I thought it was a phishing email. Turns out it was just the two booklets that came with the chaise and loveseat - which I had already told them did not contain instructions for joining the two pieces. Eventually, after a lot of trial and error, I think I figured it out - with no help from IKEA (and still no response to a follow up email). A month later, the cushions are still off-gassing and IKEA still doesn't have the yellow ottoman cover in stock or available to ship. I really *want* to like this sectional, but it's hard when it smells funny and the ottoman is still white polyester ticking.

Be patientSo I'm usually not one for following instructions well. But, on this one I decide d to take my time since it was going to be my place to have a very comfy, relaxing time. It is essential that you let the cushions expand for 3-4 days. Otherwise they will not be able to fill your covers properly. Once they are expanded you will fight them a little bit to get into the covers. As a side note, I think the covers being removable is one of the most brilliant ideas ever! Being able to easily clean your cushions by simply tossing them in the wash is great. Unlike the folks who had trouble with their cushions mine were easily installed. My only wish is that these back cushions were a little more resilient to pressure and long sitting. They do seem to become a little flat after a whole day of use. Otherwise, no complaints on my part.
